Small business owners mistakenly believe that their efforts to market business to their brick and mortar location should all be on paper, radio and television. Nothing could be further from the truth.

With all the social media promotions rocking the planet these days, you’ll want to step your market up and globalize communications, EVEN if your business is truly local only. (I’m thinking a local restaurant, maybe.) Reason being, our world gets smaller and smaller every day, and people travel the world in a fraction of a moment.

Your customers, more likely than not, have passports and will travel. If not travel to your location, they’ll travel for your location via the Internet, driving traffic, building business and promoting links, on their own social media. Step up and get your act together in marketing media – it will help your business grow locally.

Social Media Marketing Takes Time –

Be aware that creating a presence on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin requires a bit of time commitment. If you organize your time and efforts, you can get away with ten minutes three times a day. Call it your social media break and take it when others are checking their social media – on coffee breaks.

Create a Page on Facebook —

Fan pages are all the rage for a reason. They are directly connected to your primary page. They’re a legal means of marketing on facebook. They don’t get in the way of personal connections. There’s no real GROUP effort on a page, and responses are easily controlled or managed. You can drum up some real profit potential with a good business page.

Post Re-Tweetable Status Updates —

If you’re taking the time to post a status update make it interesting enough to drive traffic, gear up for marketing and create re-tweetable content. The best has searchable hash tags, a link and makes people stop and think about you for a moment. Make ‘em smile!

Don’t Spam Friends and Family —

Keep your posts on your wall, unless pertinent and relevant to the other person. If you’re marketing a website, leaving a link or promoting your business, encourage others to share, but don’t share on their wall. Leave it on yours and promote the flood of traffic coming to read it to share the link, by adding a comment about sharing the link on their wall. Most read those comments!

Build Classic Professional Relationships —

Visit your reader’s walls and comment on their posts. As a fan page, you can comment on other fan pages – if you’re a fan. As a person, you can add comments to other friend’s pages. Use the clicks, likes, and comments to leave your mark. Just don’t spam! Leave a relevant informative post with a link – that’ll make everyone happy. It’s like stopping by the print shop when you pick up paper, you say, “Hi, how ya doin’?” and somebody remembers your name.

The benefit of posting online to other fan pages is driving more traffic to your fan page, via theirs. It works, you just have to keep it up, every day.

Once  you understand how to create that kind of buying market, you’ve got the rest of the process – in the bank!

How to Market Products to a Lucrative Niche Market

You’re not trying to build a need for product. You’re locating the niche that NEEDS what you offer. The bottom line is really and truly finding the niche. Every product has a niche market that can’t LIVE without the product you offer. Find that niche and selling your product becomes a piece of cake.

You don’t have to sell your product to every customer who comes in the door if you’re not stationed in the back of a Big Box Market. Online, you find ways to attract your specific niche, and present your product.

How to Bring Hard Core Traffic to YOUR Website

Hard core traffic is a different kind of people who live within a niche, can’t live without the product and search relentlessly to locate the product they’re looking for online. They don’t stop until they find the RIGHT product, just exactly what they’re looking for on the Internet.

They may not be many, but they’re willing to spend money.

Recently, I visited with a gentleman who needed a specific cover for his air conditioner. He didn’t care how much it cost, he wanted a cover that looked good that he could install on the air conditioner he had. The one he had didn’t cost him anything, except the time to install. The cover he needed wasn’t readily available. He could have purchased a NEW air conditioner with a cover for about $1,200 but instead, he paid $280 for a cover he could adapt to what he had.

How to Drive Profits THROUGH The Roof

Once you’ve found your market, the price of your merchandise isn’t really of any real consequence. The wherewithall to purchase what they want isn’t an issue, it’s the basic desire to find what they want that drives them.

For the most part, people want a good deal, but more than any thing else, they want what they want. If you can provide it for them, you’ve got the edge on the market. Go for it. Sell it for your price, meet your market in the middle and go for it.

If you have a business on Main Street, do you really need a website?

The question sends me reeling in shock more often than I can remember. Of course, if your business on Main Street is making you plenty of money and you don’t have need for another stream of income, more traffic, or any more business profits – a website is optional. But, seriously, in this economy? Who doesn’t need more income?

You’ve probably heard all the lame reasons why people look up your website… And, you don’t deliver or ship your product, so why do you need a website?

Bill Clarke reminded me, “In this day and age when everyone drives via GPS, you need a website with your address/co-ordinates so they can FIND you on the GPS.”

Recently a client was driving to my place and called from just down the street. He said, “I’m on your website, how do I find you?”

(I could look out the window and see him.)

I said, “Look to the south, on the balcony, I’m waving at you.”

I still had to tell him where to turn to get back to the parking space in front of my residence. How often would co-ordinates bring a client to your door? More often than you know. If they can’t find you via GPS, I can assure you, they will not call you. They will go elsewhere.

Get a website. Post your coordinates on the site, if you have a Main Street Business. If not, plan on doing a lot of Internet Marketing to get your business profits back to you. People like looking through the windows.
